• All dog foster homes are supplied with bio-degradable poop bags.
• All cat foster homes are supplied with eco-friendly cat litter.
• All foster homes are educated on safe cleaning products. These products are safe for the animals, the environment and also cruelty-free.
At The Ranch
Although the sanctuary is not up and running, we are still making plans to build the sanctuary green.
• We will grow our own organic fruits and vegetables to feed the farm animals.
•We will only plant native plants at the sanctuary.
•Composting will be done with all material we can not recycle making our waste virtually nothing.
•We are exploring waste water wetlands which will eliminate septic systems and create sanctuary for animals such as birds and other wildlife.
•Our goal is to have a net zero output (Carbon footprint will be next to nothing).
•Our buildings will be powered by windmills and solar panels.
•The entire sanctuary will be cared for 100% pesticide free.
•All cleaning supplies will be earth friendly (pet safe and cruelty-free).
•Rain Barrels will be set up at downspouts and water will be used for watering plants.
At Events
•All eating utensils are bio-degradable or re-usable.
•Recycling bins are set up at all events.
•We do not serve meat at events. Did you know factory farming is a main contributor to global warming?
•Our gift bags are re-usable canvas bags or 100% recycled paper bags.
At the Office
• We have implemented a strict double-sided printing policy. Some of our printers do not have the function to print double-sided. In these cases we save the already printed on paper and print on the blank side at a later date.
• We use only energy-efficient, CFL lighting and safe cleaning products.
• We recycle all paper waste.
• We use non-paper fax machines that work electronically. ALIVE’s faxes are e-mailed to us as PDF’s and we are able to forward to the appropriate ALIVE representative via e-mail.
• Almost all ALIVE’s marketing material is printed on recycled paper using vegetable based ink.
• ALIVE’s adoption and foster application process is virtual – that means no paper at all. Applicants are able to visit ALIVE Rescue's website and fill out an application online. Once submitted a copy of this application is e-mailed to our adoption counselors and also archived in our shelter specific software program.
