Reach Out

About ALIVE Rescue's Reach Out Program

The ALIVE Rescue Reach Out program was started in hopes to educate and comfort the people within our community and connect them to the spirits of our rescue animals.

People of diverse ages, experiences, functions or health enjoy handling and having the company of the animals just as much as the rescue animals enjoy having a day of attention and love.

If you would like to be a part of one of our Reach Out days, please e-mail us at volunteer@aliverescue.org

How ALIVE Reached Out

ALIVE Rescue volunteers along with two rescue dogs visited a senior service facility for a day of socializing. We believe that animals affect human emotions and physiology. The seniors were very excited to handle and have the company of the animals just as much as the rescue animals were to have a day with them. Its a genuine day of healing for all. It is said that animals significantly benefits health, and not just for the young. In fact, pets may help elderly owners live longer, healthier, and more enjoyable lives by lowering heart-rates. The responsibility of caring for or loving on an animal even for a day also give the elderly a sense of purpose. Animals can be an excellent source of companionship.

Christopher House - Logan Square

Christopher House is a catalyst for strengthening and empowering low-income children and their families. They provide a web of support that helps families become self-sufficient and allows communities to become stronger.
They help children through programs that enhance their cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development enabling them to succeed in the classroom and in life. They also work with their parents to provide educational, financial, and emotional support to help them to build strong families.

How ALIVE Reached Out

ALIVE Rescue volunteers along with our lovable pit bull named "Aztec" visited four preschool classrooms to discuss with children the importance of humane treatment toward animals along with animal care. One Teacher reported that when asked what kind of dog they would like to have that over half the classroom said, " a pit bull". We feel it is important to show how gentle and nice this breed can be when treated kindly. Our goal is to change the implications of the breed that are enhanced and amplified through the media and or inner city communities. All this hype has given the "Pit Bull" breed a bad reputation and we must acclimate the young generation and expose the true nature of all animals when treated with compassion.
